Beautiful Japan, impressive technology
Ubisofts Assassin’s Creed: Shadows takes you to an atmospheric, feudal Japan. With detailed graphics, realistic lighting and powerful sound design, the title is one of the most technically impressive games in the series.
But which setting will get the most out of your adventure?
Performance, balanced or fidelity - what suits you?
Depending on the platform, you can choose between three graphics modes - with minor restrictions:
- PS5 & Xbox Series X: All three modes available
- Xbox Series S: Only balanced mode
The game also offers three ray-tracing levels:
- Selective: Only active in the shelter
- Standard: Applied to the game world
- Extended: Game world + reflective surfaces
1. performance mode (Performance Mode)
- Framerate: 60 FPS
- Resolution: 2160p (upscaled)
- Ray Tracing: Selettivo
=> Ideal for: Fast battles and smooth gameplay
=> Recommended for: Players who prefer speed of reaction and action
2. balanced mode (Balanced Mode)
- Frame rate: 40 FPS (with 120Hz display only) & HDMI 2.1)
- Resolution: 2160p (upscaled)
- Ray Tracing: Standard / Esteso (only PS5 Pro)
=> Ideal for: Balanced experience between performance and graphics
=> Recommended for: Users of modern screens who want beautiful lighting with a good frame rate
3. Quality mode (Fidelity mode)
- Framerate: 30 FPS
- Resolution: 2160p (upscaled), to Series S: 1620p
- Ray Tracing: Standard / Extended
=> Ideal for: Cinematic graphics and visual details
=> Recommended for: Fans of story and exploration, graphics enthusiasts
Tip: HDR & Set the brightness correctly
If your TV supports HDR, be sure to activate it. The spectacular sunsets, atmospheric shadows in temples and the glow of torches are shown to much better advantage this way.
Also pay attention to the brightness settings: Dark areas should remain recognisable without losing their flair. Fortunately, the calibration tool in the game helps you to optimise everything to your screen.
Fine-tuning: Further useful settings
- Camera effects such as motion blur & Depth of field: a matter of taste - simply deactivate for more clarity
- Subtitle & HUD: Not essential, but customisable
- Sound output: Choose the right sound system - it makes a huge difference to the atmosphere
Your adventure in Japan - according to your style
Whether you want fluid combat, a cinematic graphics experience or somewhere in between – Assassin’s Creed: Shadows offers you exactly the right options for your perfect gaming experience. Immerse yourself in the world of the samurai - in top form.
