EA FC 25: The best counter tactics

EA FC 25 Die besten Kontertaktiken

In EA FC 25, the counter-attack is a very effective method of surprising opponents and scoring quick goals. If you choose the right tactics, you can use the speed of your strikers to get through the gaps in your opponent's defence and counter-attack accordingly.

Here you can find out all about the formations, executions and dangers of counter tactics.

Formations

The right formation is key to maximising your counter-attacking tactics. Here are a few top formations for quick counter-attacks:

3-5-2: This formation allows you to dominate the midfield and switch quickly when you lose the ball. The three centre-backs provide defensive stability, while you drive the game forward with two strikers and attacking midfielders.

5-3-2: Here you have a stable defence and two strikers who can ideally exploit counter-attacking situations. The full-backs contribute offensively and create additional options. This formation is particularly strong in the current FC 25 meta.

4-2-3-1 (wide): This formation offers additional protection in defence with two defensive midfielders, while at the same time allowing you to counter-attack quickly. The centre-backs stop opposing attacks and initiate counter-attacks - perfect for quick switching!

4-3-3 (attacking): With this formation you create a solid defence and a flexible midfield, supplemented by fast wingers. The three strikers and the attacking wingers ensure that the ball is carried forward quickly and the opposing defence comes under pressure.

Executions

The right tactical alignment of your team is crucial for successful counter-attacks, as is efficient execution of the attack.

Tactical settings: Select the options "Counterattack" or "Quick build-up" in the team tactics so that your players can immediately go on the attack after winning the ball. Set the tactical depth so that your team can defend deep to slow down the opponent's offence and then switch quickly.

Player instructions: Give your forwards and wingers the instruction to "run behind the defence" so that they are ready to start deep when they win the ball. For central midfielders, the instruction "push forward" can create additional pressure in attack.

Switching play: After winning the ball, quick switching is crucial. Use long or steep passes to get the ball into the opponent's half quickly. The aim is to outwit the opponent's defence before they can regroup. Utilise speed: Fast players are the key to successful counter-attacks. Use high-speed wingers and forwards to get past defenders.

Passes and shots: On the counter-attack, flat, high passes or chip shots are ideal for playing the ball into the path of the attackers. In a good shooting position, you can beat the goalkeeper with a well-placed shot or a powerful finesse shot.

Dangers

Although counter-attacks are a powerful way to score goals quickly, you should also be aware of the risks: Defensive gaps: In a counter-attacking game, it can be easy for your defence to get too far open, especially if your attacking players don't work back quickly enough. This makes your defence more susceptible to opposing counter attacks. Make sure you find the right balance between offence and defence.

Rushed attacks: It is tempting to get the ball forward as quickly as possible on the counter-attack. However, this can lead to unnecessary ball losses. Keep an eye on possession and wait patiently for the ideal moment to make the decisive pass.

Fatigue: Players who are often involved in counter-attacks tire more quickly. Make sure you rotate your team regularly and make timely substitutions to keep your players fit. An exhausted player will find it difficult to make the decisive metres in a counter-attack.
