EA FC 26: How to hit the perfect corner
In EA FC 26, corners are an excellent way to quickly create dangerous scoring opportunities. Especially the short corner is currently the most effective variant – combining simple passes, good timing, and smart dribbling into an almost unstoppable set-piece weapon.
While direct corner variations are often unpredictable and hard to control, the short corner stands out for its control and precision. Thanks to the updated passing system, you can execute quick combinations that bring you into shooting position within seconds.
Executing the Short Corner
- Press R1 to call a second player to the corner flag.
- Press X to play a short pass to that player.
- Keep awareness: Immediately observe your teammates in the box.
- Use the left stick to turn, create space, and avoid unnecessary tricks.
The Decisive Moment
The first seconds after the short pass are crucial: this is where your attacking space opens up.
- Play short, safe passes or, if needed, a Driven Pass (hold R1 + Pass).
- Use technical dribbling (hold R1) to push past defenders.
- If you get into a one-on-one situation, use the low shot by double-tapping the shoot button.
Optimal Settings
To make sure your combinations are precise, adjust the following gameplay settings:
- Ground Passes: set to Assisted.
- Pass Receiver Lock: set to Animation Start – this gives you maximum reaction time.
Short Corner Variations
The short corner is flexible and can easily be adapted to different match situations:
- Play the ball back to the corner taker to open new passing lanes.
- Use multiple quick short passes inside the box to stretch the defense.
- Use the Driven Pass for longer distances when a teammate is open.
Why This Technique Is So Strong
The revamped passing system in EA FC 26 makes short corners especially effective. Quick combinations, close ball control, and precise finishes regularly create great chances. With a bit of practice, you’ll start scoring goals this way after just a few matches – turning set pieces into a true offensive weapon.
And speaking of “strong technique”: make sure you’re also using powerful hardware. The Intel Core i7-14700KF is just that. With twenty 3.40GHz cores, a 24GB RX 7900 XTX graphics card, and 1TB of storage, you’ll take your corner play to the next level.
