EA FC 26: How to quickly prevent more goals against
At the start of EA FC 26, many players are struggling in defense and conceding unnecessary goals. With three simple fundamentals, you can immediately improve your defending and gain an early decisive advantage.
Defense remains one of the biggest challenges this year. If you don’t want to constantly fall behind early on, you should follow a few clear principles. The following three tips will make your defense instantly more solid.
1. Stay calm instead of defending recklessly
While in FC 25 you could often succeed with aggressive pressing, in EA FC 26 this approach is risky. Due to improved dribbling mechanics, attackers are more agile and will ruthlessly exploit any space behind your defense. If you go into tackles too early, a single turn from the opponent can leave you beaten.
Here’s what to do:
- Don’t push your center-backs forward unnecessarily
- Always maintain position between the ball and the goal
- Take small backward steps instead of rushing into tackles
2. Stop through balls early
The most dangerous weapon in EA FC 26 is the through ball. Even average strikers can outrun defenders if you react too late. Many goals occur because players fail to track the attackers’ runs in time.
Here’s what to do:
- Select your center-back early using the right stick
- Closely follow the striker’s run
- Stay tight until the end instead of rushing the ball carrier
3. Use tackles wisely
The new tackling system rewards clean defending but punishes reckless actions immediately. Poorly timed tackles or slide challenges almost always lead to dangerous situations. Attackers now have better ball control and can use quick direction changes to beat you easily.
Here’s what to do:
- Only tackle when the situation is clear
- Use jockeying to keep distance and control the attacker’s movement
- Commit to a tackle only when the striker is trapped or sprinting with no room to escape
Mastering these three fundamentals will instantly stabilize your defense. Less panic, smarter anticipation, and well-timed tackles will ensure you concede far fewer goals in EA FC 26 – giving you a clear advantage on the virtual pitch.
4. The right hardware makes the difference
Slow reaction times, laggy gameplay, or a screen so pixelated that you can’t tell the ball from a player’s head – if your gaming PC is outdated, it can easily cause you to concede more goals than you’d like.
The solution: a new system like the Intel Core i7-14700KF.
Here’s what it’s capable of:
- 20x3.40GHz
- 32GB DDR5
- RX 9070 16GB
- 1TB M.2 SSD
Of course, a new PC won’t guarantee that you’ll never concede another goal – but it can definitely give you a serious advantage.
