EA FC 26: The 5 biggest mistakes you absolutely must avoid
EA FC 26 brings many gameplay changes – and those who stick to old habits will be punished quickly. Especially in Ultimate Team, it can mean the difference between victory or defeat. Here are the five most frequent mistakes you absolutely shouldn’t make in FC 26.
1. The Bruiser Playstyle Is History
Last year, the shoulder-to-shoulder tactic was a reliable way to win duels – but in FC 26 that doesn’t work anymore.
- Back then: Using Circle (Tactical Defending) or X (Advanced Defending) you could trigger the Bruiser‐Move.
- Now: Your player often starts an uncontrolled tackle – with high risk of foul.
Tip: Stay calm instead, shadow the opponent and position smartly. Patience yields more than blind aggression.
2. Mistakes with Low Driven Shot
The low, powerful finish – one of the most beloved moves in FC 25 – has been reworked.
- New control: Hold the Shoot button for power, then tap it briefly afterward to place the ball low.
- A lot of players fail because they still use the old input out of habit.
Tip: Practice the new combination in Training Mode – once it clicks, the Low Driven is dangerous again.
3. First-Touch Through Balls Are Much Weaker
The feared one-touch through passes from last year have lost a lot of effectiveness in FC 26.
- Back then: A quick tap - the ball would land perfectly into the striker’s run.
- Now: Many through balls are intercepted or imprecise.
Tip: Build your game more patiently. With targeted short passing and clever movement, you’ll create better scoring chances in the long run.
4. Direct Headers After Corners? Almost Useless
In FC 25, aerial giants like Van Dijk were a real weapon on set pieces – but those times are gone.
- Missing playstyles like Aerial+ or Power Header make headers noticeably less reliable.
- Even strong heading players now score less frequently or less accurately.
Tip: Prefer short corners or quick combinations in the penalty area – those are significantly more dangerous right now.
5. Long Shots Are Hardly Worth It Anymore
Be it Trivela, Finesse, or Power Shot – long shots have lost much of their punch in FC 26.
- Even stars like Mbappé or Salah fail regularly from 20–25 meters.
- Only shots on or just outside the penalty box border still have a realistic chance.
Tip: Look for finishes closer to goal and use quick combinations to rip open the defense.
6. Using the Wrong Hardware
A fatal mistake in your upcoming matches might be using a PC that lags at exactly the moment when your decisive scoring opportunity appears. With a machine like the Intel Core i7-12700KF, you ensure technical superiority in every case:
- 12x3.60GHz
- 16GB DDR4
- RTX 5060 Ti 16GB DLSS 4
- 1TB M.2 SSD
