The five elements
First of all, there are Fortnite: Save the world five different elements:
- Physical, represented by a broken grey wall
- Energy, Represented by a blue energy sphere with orbiting spheres
- Nature, represented by a flash
- Fire, represented by a flame
- Water, represented by three waves
These elements can affect weapons, traps, enemies and even buildings - so it's important to keep an eye on them.
Elements with opponents
Husks and fog monsters can possess an element. However, they can only Physical, Water, Fire or Naturebe - not Energy. Among the fog monsters, only the Smasher have an element, which is why elemental weapons as a whole are particularly relevant for Husks.
Normal opponents without conspicuous visual features automatically have the element Physical.
- Fire opponents burn,
- Water enemies have a bluish glow and are surrounded by icy mist,
- Nature opponents have a yellow glow and lightning effects.

All elemental opponents have special characteristics that make them more dangerous than physical opponents:
- Fire opponent cause an affliction that damages shields and then health.
- Water opponents slow you down when they cause damage.
- Nature opponent drain your energy for a short time.
