Halo: Several titles in development by new studio and engine

Halo-unter-neuem-Namen-und-Engine

The Halo World Championships took place from 4 to 6 October this year, and alongside a number of heated battles and the final between Spacestation Gaming and OpTic Gaming, which the former won, the focus of attention was naturally also on news and information about the future of the Halo universe and its games. Nevertheless, developer 343 probably exceeded the expectations of many fans when they surprised the audience with a presentation in which they announced that they wanted to lead not only themselves but the entire franchise into a new chapter. On the one hand through a personal rebranding, on the other through new approaches to the games themselves.

Because: 343 Industries no longer exists. As part of the aforementioned rebranding, the name of the developer is now "Halo Studios" and this should also be the programme: A whole series of well-known and popular Halo games are to be rebooted in the future and adapted to current standards.

All this under the title “Project Foundry”.

However, the entire project is still in its infancy. Not much can be said about it yet and not much has been said by "Halo Studios". Apart from the first steps and conceptual phases, there has only been one real commitment: Unreal Engine 5 is to make a decisive contribution to the reboot.
During the presentation, the head of the studio Pierre Hintze said: "I think I now have an audience that is hungry for more. Therefore, we will not only improve the efficiency of our development, but also the recipe by which we create Halo games. We are starting a whole new chapter!"

It is not yet entirely clear what awaits us in this new chapter and whether Hintze and his team's ambitious project will bear fruit can only really be said in the distant future. Nevertheless, a Halo at the height of its best days, such as the golden era of Halo 3, would of course be more than desirable and the potential is certainly there.
