Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - How to use the Master Strike correctly
The Master Strike is one of the most crucial techniques in KCD2 - and that's why we'll tell you how to use it here.
New game, new mechanics - how the master stroke works in KCD2
In the first Kingdom Come, the master stroke was relatively simple: a perfect block automatically led to an unblockable counterattack. Even if the timing wasn't perfect, you could usually still land a normal block and didn't have to take an immediate hit.
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, however, the technology works slightly differently. A perfect block remains a solid defence strategy, but the master strike is now the ultimate attack technique for experienced fighters.
But beware: this time there is no „Safety net“ more. The master stroke is no longer associated with blocking, but requires precise timing and active attacking. This makes it more difficult, but also more effective.
How to perform the master stroke
To use the master stroke successfully, you must pay close attention to the direction of your opponent's attack. Instead of simply blocking as before, you have to lunge on the opposite side and strike at the same time as your opponent.
Example:
- Your opponent is attacking from the right? Then hold your sword to the left and strike at the same moment.
- Is he attacking from the left? Then hold your sword to the right and counterattack at the same moment.
If you get the timing right, your opponent won't be able to block the blow - and you can follow up immediately.
Caution: Opponents can also use the master stroke!
You are not the only one who can perform this powerful counterattack - your enemies can also master this technique. If you notice that your opponent is holding his sword on one side, you should not attack from the opposite side, but rather strike from above or choose a different tactic.
A direct attack into a possible masterstroke position is risky - so be careful and analyse your opponent's behaviour carefully!
The best strategy: stay patient and counterattack
The most effective way is to let your opponent deliver the first blow and concentrate on countering. Patience pays off in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
The best way to perfect the master stroke is to practise with a hangover first. Alternatively, you can also practise on individual, poorly equipped bandits to refine your timing.
As soon as you master the master stroke, you will become a true one-man army!
