The time has finally come – Mafia 4 is in the starting blocks. The recently published Steam page has not only revealed the official release date, but also some exciting information about the game.

Anyone who gambled in the 2000s knows Mafia. You were only someone in the school playground if you played it - and yes, for many people back then it was cooler than GTA. Why? „Because it was real mafia stuff, boy!“ Sure, we had no idea what that actually meant - but it felt damn good.

The waiting time will soon be over

Since Mafia 3 in 2017, fans are longing for a real successor - because the third instalment didn't really take off. The Edizione definitiva from 2020 was a nice remake, but now the fan community needs fresh food. And that's coming: Mafia: The Old Country now has an official release date.

What to expect in the game

Stealth and action combined

An early LinkedIn post already suggested that stealth is becoming a bigger issue. They were looking for designers for „Captivating stealth and combat gameplay loops“, which indicates that sneaking is similar to Mafia 3 will play a role again - hopefully with a better finish this time.

„Close collaboration with the AI lead to realise immersive stealth and combat experiences“ – according to the official job advertisement.

Unreal Engine 5 creates a film-like atmosphere

The Old Country is being developed with Unreal Engine 5 - and it shows. The screenshots look like something out of a historical mafia epic. Detailed environments, dramatic lighting moods and realistic character models create a cinematic atmosphere.

More weapons, more play styles

From classic pistols to shotguns - the Mafia 4 offers you a whole arsenal of weapons typical of the time. Knives for close combat are also included. Whether shooting or sneaking: You decide how you earn your place in the Torrisi family.

Welcome to Sicily

The open world of the game can be explored in a variety of ways - on foot, on horseback or in elegant vintage cars. Everything is set in an atmospheric Sicily of the early 20th century.

The story of Enzo Favara

The story promises great emotions and an epic rise in the mafia cosmos - very much in the tradition of The Godfather 2, which also took a look at the Italian roots of organised crime.

With Mafia: The Old Country 2K seems to have struck a chord with the fans. An authentic world, modern technology, an exciting story - that sounds like an offer we definitely can't refuse.
