New League of Legends Champion got leaked from Riot Games

League of Legends was released over 15 years ago, making it a real oldie in the fast-paced world of video games. Despite this, Riot Games still manages to keep players entertained time and time again - mainly thanks to the large number of playable champions.

Although Riot Games has somewhat reduced the release of new champions in recent years and instead focussed more on revising existing characters, players can now choose from more than 168 champions.

In 2023, Riot released four new champions: Milio, the Protective Flame, Naafiri, the Hound of a Hundred Bites, Briar, the Tamed Hunger, and Hwei, the Visionary. Only two champions have appeared so far this year: Smolder and Aurora. However, there are rumours that Ambessa Medarda could be added as a champion for the second season of Arcane.

In recent years, it has almost become the norm for new champions to be leaked before their official unveiling - usually a few weeks before their release and often by third parties. This time, however, Riot Games itself has revealed who could soon be joining the champion roster. And it's a familiar figure.

In a recent poll, Riot Games featured the champion icon of Mel Medarda, daughter of Ambessa Medarda.

This leak immediately triggered speculation in the community. Fans are wondering what abilities Mel might have and whether they could be based on the current placeholders in her HUD.

However, it is advisable to keep expectations in check. Once before, at the time of Silco's possible introduction as champion, he was changed to Renata Glasc during development. Whether Mel Medarda will actually appear as a playable champion soon and whether this leak was actually the first from Riot Games itself remains to be seen - whether intentional or not...
