Palworld modders bring back banned features - despite Nintendo's objection
The conflict between Nintendo and Pocketpair continues, but that doesn't stop the modding community from quickly restoring removed game mechanics.
Legal dispute between Nintendo and Pocketpair
Since its release, there have been discussions as to whether Palworld has too many similarities to Pokémon: small creatures that provide support in battle, spheres reminiscent of Pokéballs and the ability to ride on your companions.
Nintendo is basing its complaint on new patents that were added to existing patents after the release of Palworld. „Parent patents“ were added.
The Pokéball-like catch balls had to be removed from the game back in December. In a further step, the sliding function has now also been removed - much to the annoyance of many fans.
Modders disregard Nintendo's guidelines
Despite the successful patent enforcement by Nintendo, many players do not want to do without certain features. Modders published„Primarinabee“ a modification that allows you to glide on your creatures again - just like before the official patch.
In version 0.5.5, Pocketpair had removed this function and replaced it with a separate slider. The patch notes stated this:
"From version 0.5.5, gliding can only be carried out with a glider. The partner skill has been adjusted for companions that previously acted as gliders, so that a new gliding effect is created instead."
With the"Glider Restoration Mod" of Primarinabee, the familiar gliding feature returns almost in its original state - even if the glider must still be present in the inventory
