R.E.P.O. - how to defeat every level 2 monster part 1
In R.E.P.O. you will encounter a variety of monsters - each with their own way of defeating them. Here are the ways in which you can defeat the first half of all monsters on level 2.
In the online co-op horror game R.E.P.O. you and up to five other players go monster hunting and exploring in search of items to sell. If you don't manage to reach the required quota, you have to start from scratch.
You only have theVoice chat with proximity function, to find yourself in these halls populated by deadly monsters... But how do you even survive?
We will now go through the first half of level 2 creatures one by one.
The Rugrat
The Rugrat is a creature that takes on the disturbing form of a baby.
He wanders aimlessly through the neighbourhood until he notices a player.
As soon as it has locked onto a target, it immediately searches for the nearest medium-sized or small item of value and hurls it at the player with surprising force.
If there are no suitable objects within reach, the Rugrat poses no immediate threat and merely observes the player.
If he tries to throw heavier objects, he may occasionally hit himself if he misjudges the weight.
The damage caused varies depending on the weight of the object thrown.
Counter strategies:
- You can stun the Rugrat with valuables of any size.
- Alternatively, you can grab it directly and smash it - for this you need either two players or Starch level 4.
Animal
The animal is a level 2 creature that initially wanders sluggishly through its environment until it either notices a player or is provoked.
It appears as a flesh-coloured, six-legged monster with a distorted, constantly screaming face.
When triggered, the animal goes into a state of chaotic frenzy - it flails around wildly and charges uncontrollably in random directions.
Everything in its path suffers damage as the animal races through the environment without any control.
On its own, the animal does not pose too great a threat, but in combination with more dangerous creatures it quickly becomes a serious problem.
His unpredictable behaviour and ability to throw players off balance can quickly turn an otherwise manageable situation into a deadly escalation.
Counter strategies:
- You can stun the animal with valuables of any size.
- Alternatively, you can grab it and smash it - you will need either two players or Starch level 4.
Upscream
The Upscream is a monstrosity that resembles a distorted human head and moves on four arm-like limbs.
It crawls unpredictably across the level, but as soon as it catches sight of a player, it fixes its gaze on them and pounces on its target with alarming speed.
As soon as the Upscream reaches its target, it grabs the player, deals 10 damage and hurls them away, leaving them momentarily dazed.
If the player does not recover quickly enough, the Upscream can take the opportunity to attack again - which brings with it the risk of a brutal stun lock loop.
Normally, the Upscream loses interest after three successful attacks and disappears abruptly into the darkness.
Counter strategies:
- You can stun him with valuables of any size.
- Alternatively, you can fill it with at least two players grab and smash.
- However, if you are close to a precipice or other opponents, you should keep your distance to avoid dangerous situations.

Cook
The cook is a creature that resembles a large, frog-like creature.
It initially moves through the area with slow, sluggish jumps - until it spots a player.
He then dramatically arms himself with two knives and prepares for a whirling leap attack.
As soon as it is in the air, the cook rotates quickly around its own axis and shoots towards its target.
During this vortex attack, he can be grabbed with minimal effort, making him particularly vulnerable to being thrown into chasms or traps.
Even after landing, it continues to turn briefly, giving players a small window of opportunity to act before it recovers.
Important:
As soon as the chef draws his knives and initiates the jump, his trajectory is fixed.
A quick dodge to the side is enough to easily escape the attack.
Hiding behind a wall or door is also a reliable method of avoiding being hit.
Counter strategies:
- You can stun him with valuables of any size.
