R.E.P.O. - how to defeat every level 2 monster part 2
In R.E.P.O. you will encounter a variety of monsters - each with their own way of defeating them. Here are the ways in which you can defeat the second half of all monsters on level 2.
In the online co-op horror game R.E.P.O. you and up to five other players go monster hunting and exploring in search of items to sell. If you don't manage to reach the required quota, you have to start from scratch.
You only have the Voice chat with proximity function, to find yourself in these halls populated by deadly monsters... But how do you survive at all?
We will now go through the second half of level 2 creatures one by one.
The Hidden One
The hidden one is a being that remains completely invisible and is therefore one of the most elusive threats you can encounter.
His presence can only be recognised by subtle clues: the sound of heavy breathing, faint black smoke in the air or the eerie dark footprints he leaves behind.
As soon as the Hidden One spots a player, he pounces on them, grabs them and tries to move them far away from his team before dropping them and disappearing.
If a team member is kidnapped, you can snatch the player back during the kidnapping by releasing them from the Hidden One's grip.
Interestingly, the Hidden One can be unintentionally useful in the final phase of the evacuation:
If you are far away from the truck, it could pick you up and carry you closer - but this is risky as it could encounter more dangerous monsters on the way.
Strategies:
- His smoky footprints reveal his position.
- If you have a melee weapon such as a baseball bat, you can strike at hints of his presence - with a bit of luck you'll hit him and stop him short.
Bowtie
The Bowtie is a creature that wanders aimlessly through the area.
It appears as an armless, white creature with its characteristic bow tie and stands on two thick, trunk-like legs.
His elongated head profile and rhythmic stomping give him a strange, almost cartoonish appearance as he patrols at a steady pace.
As soon as the Bowtie spots a player, it suddenly transforms into a large, industrial fan and unleashes a powerful gust of wind.
This attack deals moderate direct damage, but the real danger lies in the chaos it causes:
Players are thrown against walls, rubble or other opponents, which often leads to significantly more serious injuries.
During the wind phase sprint and Jumping deactivated, which makes escape extremely difficult - unless the bowtie is neutralised quickly.
After its gust of wind, the bowtie usually flees the scene.
Occasionally, however, it goes into a wild state during its normal wandering, sprinting at high speed and ramming everything in its path.
Strategies:
- While it is channelling its wind attack, the Bowtie is rooted to the ground - and therefore vulnerable as long as you are outside the wind zone.
- It is very fragile: a well-placed shot from a firearm is enough to take it out. Melee weapons such as baseball bats are also very effective.
- His heavy stomping gives away his position - stay alert and don't be surprised.
The Mentalist
The Mentalist is a creature with a distinctly alien appearance that floats silently through the level until it discovers a player.
As soon as it approaches its target, it launches a psychic attack:
It makes nearby objects float and then hurls them forcefully onto the ground.
Anyone within the blast radius suffers devastating injuries. 50 damage points.
If a team member is lifted into the air during the attack, you can intervene by grabbing the player and pulling them to safety.
This works best from a safe distance or at the exact moment when the mentalist ends his ability and loses control of floating objects.
A clever but risky trick to escape during a pursuit by the Mentalist:
Sprint directly in front of it, and as soon as it starts to glow (a sign that its ability has been activated), quickly crouch down.
This causes the mentalist to hurl you far through the air with his psychic power - and you can put distance between you and him.
Attention:
During the flight you go into the Ragdoll mode which makes this tactic very dangerous in confined spaces.
Banger
Banger are monsters that always appear in groups of three.
As soon as they spot a player, they immediately light their fuses and begin a slow, determined march towards their target.
If bangers are killed, they explode in a powerful detonation.
Any player within the blast radius is thrown away with great force - particularly dangerous in confined spaces or near chasms.
Quick strategy:
Hit a banger twice and then throw it away quickly, ideally into a pit, to eliminate it safely.
Important: Once the fuse is lit, there is no way to extinguish it.
Acoustic cues:
- An almost silent ticking of the fuse (about 10 seconds until the explosion)
- A soft scream just before the detonation
If you pay attention to these noises, you can distinguish between survival and uncontrolled flight.
