Sacred 2 is getting a remaster and we love it

Honestly, I never thought I’d get to write this sentence again: Sacred 2 is coming back!

Sacred 2 is really back!

For many, this might just be another entry in the long list of remasters, but for me – and probably for many others who spent countless hours in Ancaria – it’s so much more. Sacred wasn’t just a game. It was a feeling. A mix of freedom, humor, chaos, and that unmistakable German charm that no other action RPG has ever quite captured.
When THQ Nordic announced in the summer of 2025 that Sacred 2: Fallen Angel would get an official remaster, I was skeptical. Too often have I seen remakes lose the soul of the original. But the first screenshots and information slowly eased my doubts. The team at SparklingBit seems to truly understand what made Sacred special – and wants to modernize it without destroying its nostalgic core.

Everything and more!

What excites me most: the remaster includes all content, including the legendary Ice & Blood expansion, which never made it to consoles. Finally, PlayStation and Xbox players can experience what PC fans once loved – from the dark Crystal Region to the bizarre new enemies. Add to that a technical upgrade: improved textures, greater draw distance, dynamic lighting, and smoother animations. Not a graphical revolution, sure, but everything feels as though Ancaria is breathing again – no longer through the blurry lens of 2008, but in fresh, crisp HD air.
What touches me most is the tone of the developers. Instead of simply “polishing it up,” they’ve reportedly worked closely with the community. Many of the old bugs, balance issues, and interface quirks are being fixed. Those who once struggled to optimize their Seraphim builds will certainly appreciate that. The combat system will also feel more direct and responsive – a real chance to make Sacred 2 what it always should have been.

No multiplayer on consoles

Of course, there are downsides. The multiplayer mode has been removed from consoles – a real loss for those who loved to roam Ancaria with friends. And yes, the remaster remains an overhaul, not a full rebuild. But maybe that’s just right. Because what made Sacred 2 special back then wasn’t perfection, but personality. That unconventional blend of epic fantasy, silly Easter eggs, and a soundtrack that still gives me goosebumps (Blind Guardian, I salute you!) simply belongs to the experience.
I installed Sacred 2 on DVD back in 2008, played it on a CRT monitor, and fought my way for hours through the green wilderness around Thylysium. Watching the remaster trailers today, I feel that same old tingle again. That excitement when the character menu pops up, you pick your class, and the narrator begins the story of Ancaria with that unmistakable voice.

I can hardly wait!

A lot has changed since then – not least the demands modern games place on our hardware, as you’ve probably noticed with newer titles. To make sure that doesn’t happen with the Sacred 2 remaster and that we can play it smoothly at launch without lag or endless loading times: it’s time for a new high-end gaming PC.
The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D will put all your worries to rest! With specs like 8x4.20GHz, 32GB DDR5, RTX 5080 16GB DLSS 4, and a 1TB M.2 SSD, you can be sure to run even the latest games with ease – and still customize everything to your needs and preferences.
November 2025 is the target. Then we’ll return – to a world full of goblins, temple knights, dragons, and absurd humor.
And me? I’ll be there again. With my Seraphim, my old soundtrack in my ears, and a big smile on my face.
Sacred lives!
