Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles is now an incredible 25 years old and that's exactly why Lucasfilm Games is remaking it, which is intended to wrap the nostalgia of the second phase of films about the battle between Jedi and Sith in a more modern guise.

The game has been announced for January next year and will then be released for PC, Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5 as well as the Nintendo Switch. It once again focuses on action-packed lightsaber battles in a fast-paced sidescroller arcade style, but also offers some new features.

Turning old into new

One of the most well-known flaws of the old game, the wrong colour of Mace Windu's lightsaber, has been fixed with an added setting. Players can now choose to have the Jedi Master wield the purple lightsaber true to the film, or stick to the classic colours of the game for the sake of the good old days.

What's more, players of the remaster can immerse themselves even deeper in the action from the very beginning and enjoy all the content straight away, as all unlockable characters and levels are already accessible. The developers have already promised that there will be further announcements before the release date that will provide players with completely new characters.

The new version also includes some gameplay improvements, including smoother jumps, better balance and the return of VS and training mode, which may still be familiar from the PlayStation version. The mix of nostalgia and new gameplay experience is completed by a local co-op mode and, above all, the addition of some classic cheat codes such as the Big Head mode.
