Switch 2 improvements: Nintendo brings GameShare and graphics upgrades to popular games
Good news for Switch fans
Finally, owners of the new Switch 2 can look forward to some good news. Some of the most popular games of the previous Nintendo generation are not only receiving a free upgrade, but are also being expanded with new functions.
Free upgrades for well-known titles
The announcement comes after the disappointment of many fans who initially thought they would have to pay again for improved versions of their games. But Nintendo has remedied the situation: updates are now available free of charge for selected titles - and they offer more than just cosmetic improvements.
Particularly pleasing: large games such asPokémon Karmesin and Purpur benefit from improved performance and revised graphics. This is apparently Nintendo's response to earlier criticism of the technical weaknesses of the games on the original Switch.
also Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and Super Mario Odyssey receive visual upgrades including HDR support - as well as the new GameShare function.
GameShare – a return of the DS era
If the term „GameShare“ The function is very reminiscent of the Nintendo DS download game principle. Back then, two players could play together even though only one had the game. With GameShare on the Switch 2, this feature returns - but with an added bonus: owners of the original Switch can also take part in shared games, provided they are nearby.
The following games already support GameShare at launch:
- Super Mario Party Jamboree
- Big Brain Academy: Kopf an Kopf
- Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury
- 51 Worldwide Games
- Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
- Super Mario Odyssey
Is Nintendo showing a willingness to learn?
Particularly exciting is the free upgrade for the Pokémon Karmesin and Purpur-title, as its technical problems were heavily criticised at launch on the old Switch. Lags, faulty textures and crashes frustrated many players.
The updates - combined with the Switch 2's more powerful hardware - could now finally help the games achieve the lustre they deserved at launch.
The backwards compatibility of the GameShare function is also a strong signal.
It indicates that Nintendo is not completely dropping the original Switch - an important sign for fans who do not want to or cannot immediately switch to the Switch 2.
