Tomb Raider 4-6: The remaster has a release date
Now titles 4 to 6 of the Tomb Raider series are also getting a remaster and it comes packed with improvements and expansions.
After the first three parts of Tomb Raider were remastered at the beginning of 2024, it has now been announced when we can expect the new edition of parts 4 to 6.
On 14 February 2025, the second trilogy will be released for PlayStation 4 and 5, the Xbox series, PC and Nintendo Switch - exactly one year after the first three parts.
Fans of the series can look forward to a refreshed version of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (1999), Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000) and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (2003).
The Tomb Raider series
While the classic Tomb Raider was mainly limited to exploring the world and solving puzzles, the storyline became much more in-depth with parts 4 to 6 and game mechanics such as Lara Croft as a character became increasingly complex.
This made the games more challenging and action-packed. While gunfights became more and more standard, additional mechanics such as swimming and climbing were added to make exploring the environment even more complex.
With part 6 at the latest, the series became much darker and even more ambitious overall, which made it clear for a long time that a remaster would be due sooner or later in order to improve the graphics, gameplay and one or two other flaws.
What does the remaster bring?
The most important points of the remaster are the significantly improved graphics and modernised controls - the new version also offers a photo mode to capture the best moments of the game.
Textures and lighting have been completely overhauled and now give the game a modern look, but nostalgia fans can of course switch back to the old graphics at the touch of a button.
In terms of the controls, players can also choose whether they want to play the classic version or the improved interface with smoother control options.
The photo mode has not only been refined but also expanded to include various outfits, poses, weapons and expressions, while the camera angle, depth of field and zoom effects can now also be adjusted.
There are also a few quality-of-life updates such as a life bar for bosses, 150 achievements and much more.
