Valorant: All changes of the big patch

Valorant's latest patch brings some changes and, above all, a brand new armour type to the game.

The rain shield

Previously, players only had the choice between a cheap armour with 25 protection units and a full shield with 50 protection units, whereby most found the price of the latter at 1000 credits too expensive.

To shake up the gameplay a little, Riot Games is now introducing a medium shield into the game for 650 credits, which absorbs all damage and then has to regenerate.

Cypher nerfed and Phoenix buffed

The last major patch of the year is primarily aimed at the Sentinel and Smoker classes, once again putting the supporter classes centre stage.

This initially weakened Cypher's abilities, who was previously considered the best choice when it came to acting defensively and blocking paths.

The counter time for Trap Wire has been extended by half a second to give opponents a chance to destroy it. The cost of Neural Theft has been increased from 6 to 7 Orbn points.

Phoenix, on the other hand, will be reinforced and will be able to actively participate in battles more quickly and also re-enter them. The wall of flame now continues to heal permanently, even if it has only been entered briefly, and can also be placed through walls.

The signature skill "Nasty Throw" gives you a free charge at the start of the round. If two opponents are eliminated, you also get another one.
In addition, "Hot Hands" now costs 200 credits and is no longer a signature ability.

Sage becomes more important, Jett, Deadlock and Omen have been revised

After Sage seemed to become increasingly irrelevant as an agent since the release of Valorant, she is to be given more relevance again after this update. She should now be able to stop attacks better or at least slow them down.

The slowing sphere should therefore be more effective against jumping abilities and the speed should be reduced by up to 50%, self-healing has been increased from 30 to 50 HP and a resurrection now only costs 7 orb points.

In the case of Jett, hovering during a suppression or stun is no longer possible, the life status of the barrier on deadlock is updated for better visibility and the ULT kills even if the timer has already expired. Visual clarity for Omen with his smoke ability has been improved and can now be better distinguished from enemy and allied smokes.

Changes to weapons

Weapons such as pistols and rifles are less accurate when a player moves since the patch, the idea behind this is to make strategic positioning and precise shots an important part of the game.

Phantom now deals more damage over longer distances and becomes much more useful in long fights, as the decrease in damage at medium and long distances has been reduced.

Classic and Ghost pistols are less effective at medium range, while machine guns such as Ares and Odin have been improved in their performance, making them more tactically flexible.
