what is Yakuza 0?

If you Yakuza you have missed out on a unique gaming experience. Often referred to as the „Japanese GTA“ the series offers far more than just fights: it combines hard-hitting action with a film-like narrative style. Yakuza 0 is the prequel to the first part of the series and shows the beginnings of the legendary Kazuma Kiryu. In Japan in the late 1980s, during the economic boom, every piece of land is fought over - even with deadly means. After the murder of a real estate agent, Kiryu is targeted by the police and has to assert himself in the criminal underworld. In the process, his own morals become increasingly shaky.

High-calibre Voice-Cast

An all-English cast has now been announced for the new version - and it packs a punch. Some of the voice actors may even be familiar to players from outside the genre.

First and foremost: Matt Mercer, known as Cassidy fromOverwatch, Leon fromResident Evil 6 and Ganondorf fromZelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Just as legendary: David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake.

Price question: Is it worth it?

The game can already be pre-ordered on the official website - both digitally and physically for around50 €. For some, this price is justified thanks to the prominent speaker cast. Critics, on the other hand, note that it is "only" is a new edition of a game that is already years old.

Nevertheless, compared to many Nintendo first-party releases, the Yakuza 0: Directors Cut more favourable. And in terms of content, it is one of the strongest and most unique titles in the series for many fans anyway - with black humour, emotional depth and raw violence.
