Fatal Fury: City of Wolves - Tips and tricks for the Open Beta
The legendary fighting game of the 90s from SNK, Fatal Fury : La cité des loups, celebrates its comeback in April - here you'll find everything you need to know about the game's open beta.
For all those who want to get into the fight before the official release, the open beta is already running and will be available until February 24. This beta gives players the opportunity to test the next-gen combat experience with innovative game mechanics, a striking comic-inspired graphic style and customizable control schemes - ideal for beginners and experienced fighters alike.

Open Beta Features: What can you expect?
The City of the Wolves Open Beta offers players the opportunity to try out the integrated rollback netcode and cross-platform online play. Participants can choose from eight playable characters and compete in three online modes:
- Ranked Match - Compete against other players and climb up the leaderboards.
- Casual match - Fight without pressure against opponents of different skill levels.
- Room battles (Room Match) - Create private lobbies and fight with friends.
For newcomers to Fatal Fury there is also a Offline tutorial mode which provides a comprehensive introduction to the game mechanics in order to optimally prepare for online battles.
A particularly exciting new feature in City of wolves is that Rev system - a customizable toolkit that reinforces offensive strategies right from the start. Only the strongest players will be able to master all Rev techniques and dominate South Town's combat.
Fighters in the Open Beta - Legendary characters return
The Open Beta presents some of the most famous fighters from South Town, including:
- Terry Bogard - The ultimate all-rounder. Terry has powerful projectiles, anti-air attacks and rushdown moves, making him suitable for players of all skill levels. Set Power Charge and Crack Shoot to put opponents under pressure and provoke mistakes.
- Mai Shiranui - A nimble, well-balanced fighter. May uses Sayo Chidorito build up pressure, and Musasabi no Maito control the opponent's movements - ideal for players who rely on mobility.
New fighters enter the ring:
- Preecha - An aggressive Muay Thai fighter with quick multiple hits. She breaks through opposing defenses with Hyperbolic Kick or sets Rev Preecha’s Combination into Circular Step to surprise opponents.
- Vox Reaper - A sinister challenger with long-range attacks and a deadly Command Grab. His Standing Heavy Punch can be included in its Kokuen Ryuu-shockwave and cause massive damage.
More playable fighters:
- Rock Howard - The son of Geese Howard and Terry's student. Rock combines ground projectiles with forward attacks. His Shinkuu Nage-Command Grab is ideally suited as a combination starter in conjunction with Rev Accel.
- Hotaru Futaba - A fast and technically demanding fighter with great mix-up potential. Her projectiles act as a shield as she approaches, and her Koushuu Da-airflow and the Shajou Tai-Command Grab break through the opponent's defense.
- B. Jenet - The charismatic leader of the Knights of the Lily. She relies on powerful air attacks and has Afterburnera powerful combination preparation. Gulf Tomahawk can also be interrupted by the braking feature to confuse opponents.
- Kain R. Heinlein - A methodical fighter who controls the battlefield with powerful projectiles. HisBlack lance is perfect for punishing aggressive opponents, but its charge-based moveset requires precise timing.
Choose the right control style
To cater for players of all experience levels, the City of the Wolves two control schemes:
- Arcade-Stil - Classic controls for experienced players.
- Smart-Stil - A more accessible control system that enables special moves and combos with simple inputs.
